A cream field drawn into squares by a grid of blue lines. Nothing else. The structure is exact: horizontal and vertical lines in the same muted cornflower blue crossing the full surface at regular intervals, cutting the cream pile into a repeating pattern of soft rectangles. The pile is deep and dense, the kind you notice underfoot before you notice anything else. This is not a decorative rug that sits quietly at the edge of a room. It has a clear geometry and it brings that geometry into whatever space it enters. At 200 x 300 cm it is large enough to anchor a full seating area or define a dining zone entirely on its own.

Why this rug+

The grid is hand-drawn, which means no two rows are identical in the way a machine would make them. The lines have a slight unevenness that keeps the geometry alive rather than rigid. It reads as precise until you look closely, and then it reads as human.

Two colours only: natural cream and a single muted blue. The restraint is the point. In a room with more going on, this rug recedes into order. In a minimal room, it becomes the only thing worth looking at.

The pile is deep. This is not a flat-weave or a low-profile rug. There is real material under your feet, and the grid lines sit raised and textured against the cream. The surface has dimension.

I chose this one because it is the only rug in the collection that is entirely about structure. No symbols, no narrative, no colour play. Just the grid. That kind of restraint is hard to find in a handwoven piece, and harder still to pull off at this scale.
How this sits in a room+

In natural light

In daylight the cream base reads as a warm natural white and the blue lines hold their tone without overpowering. In the evening under warm light the cream deepens slightly toward ivory and the blue softens. The rug never looks cold. The blue has enough grey in it to sit warmly in any light.

Wall colours it suits

The cream and blue combination is versatile. It works with warm neutrals and linens, picks up naturally against a dusty blue or sage wall, and holds its own against terracotta. Against a deep charcoal wall the cream field will lift sharply and the grid will read almost architectural. Avoid bright white walls, which will flatten the warmth out of the cream base.

Floor and furniture

Works on warm wood, stone, and concrete floors. The cream base acts as a bridge across surfaces. Furniture can go in any direction: the rug is neutral enough to sit with natural wood, painted furniture, raw linen, or dark leather without competing. Because the rug is entirely geometric, it pairs well with rooms that have pattern elsewhere. The grid provides order, not noise.

Care instructions+
Vacuum regularly
Low suction, against the pile. Avoid the fringes with the nozzle.
Brush once or twice a year
Keeps the wool fibres alive and the texture looking its best.
Treat stains quickly
Blot gently with warm water and a little Woolite. Never rub.
Let it breathe
Never leave it folded for long. Wool needs air to stay in good shape.
Natural freshening tip
A light mist of water, bicarbonate of soda, and a few drops of mint essential oil refreshes the rug between cleans and acts as a natural insect repellent in spring and summer.
