Most tables disappear into a room. A Zellij table does not. Each tabletop is a Moroccan mosaic: every tile cut by hand in Salé with a steel chisel, set into white cement by one craftsman who has never used a template in his life. No two tables alike.

The Craft

Every tile is cut by hand. No two are ever exactly the same.

Zellij is one of the oldest geometric arts in the world. Each piece begins as a fired clay tile, then a craftsman with a small steel chisel cuts it into its precise shape : a triangle, a star, a lozenge. The table you receive was assembled tile by tile in Salé, the city on the Atlantic coast of Morocco.
