Vertical forms drop down from a red border strip at the top and taper toward the ivory base. Burgundy, charcoal, navy, dusty pink, coral, crimson, sage and teal sit side by side, each column slightly different in width and edge, each colour bleeding softly at its margins the way natural dye does. The ivory field shows through between them like light between curtains. The composition is abstract but it has a clear rhythm. You read it left to right and something about it holds. At 160 x 110 cm it is a generous accent piece. Dense pile, warm hand, strong presence.

Why this rug+
The vertical abstract composition is unusual in Amazigh weaving. Most work in horizontal bands or geometric grids. This one moves downward, which gives it a completely different energy in a room.
The palette covers almost the full spectrum yet reads as warm and coherent. That is because the colours were chosen by eye, not from a chart. The natural dye process softens every edge and ties the tones together.
At 160 x 110 cm it works under a coffee table, in a reading corner, at the foot of a bed, or as a layering piece over a larger neutral rug. The format is versatile without being small.
I chose this one because the charcoal and navy columns sit next to dusty pink in a way that should not work as well as it does. That kind of colour confidence is not something you can design. It comes from the hand.
How this sits in a room+

In natural light

In daylight the full palette opens up and the coral and teal read clearly against the ivory base. In evening light the burgundy and charcoal deepen and the rug becomes richer and more intimate. The soft dye edges mean the colours shift slightly depending on the angle of the light.

Wall colours it suits

This rug carries enough colour to hold against almost any wall. Off-white and warm linen let the palette speak without competition. Against deep navy or near-black walls the ivory field lifts and every colour comes forward with full clarity.

Floor and furniture

Works on both warm wood and neutral floors. The ivory base bridges any surface. Keep surrounding furniture restrained: natural linen, undyed cotton, raw wood. The rug is doing the expressive work in the room. Let it.

Care instructions+
Vacuum regularly
Low suction, against the pile. Avoid the fringes with the nozzle.
Brush once or twice a year
Keeps the wool fibres alive and the texture looking its best.
Treat stains quickly
Blot gently with warm water and a little Woolite. Never rub.
Let it breathe
Never leave it folded for long. Wool needs air to stay in good shape.
Natural freshening tip
A light mist of water, bicarbonate of soda, and a few drops of mint essential oil refreshes the rug between cleans and acts as a natural insect repellent in spring and summer.
