Bahr means sea in Darija. One colour. Cobalt blue from edge to edge, laid in a traditional Arabic geometric pattern. All the structure of the craft, none of the colour contrast. The geometry is there if you look for it. The surface reads differently in morning light than at dusk. Made in Salé.

Why this table
Traditional Arabic geometric tilework in a single colour. Without the contrast of multiple colours, the pattern becomes something to discover rather than something immediately read. Quiet, but not simple
At 20 cm / 7.9 in across, it fits where other tables do not. On a windowsill, beside a bath, under a lamp, next to a reading chair. Present without demanding attention
The wrought iron base folds flat. The tile top sits on it without fixings, held by its own weight. Easy to move inside, take outside, or store
Cobalt blue reads against warm and cool interiors alike. Against linen, plaster, wood, concrete. It adjusts to the room rather than competing with it
The craft
Zellij (also written zellige) is a Moroccan tilework tradition with roots going back to the 10th century. Each tile is shaped by hand using a steel hammer and chisel, one strike at a time. Then placed alongside its neighbours and set into white cement. There are no machines involved at any step. The craft is practiced in a handful of cities in Morocco. The artisan who makes these tables works in Salé, on the Atlantic coast, where the tradition has been passed from generation to generation. The tables are made exclusively for You.
Care
Cleaning
Wipe with a damp cloth. Mild soap is fine. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can dull the enamel over time. The grout lines can be cleaned with a soft brush.
Outdoor use
The Zellij tiles are frost-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. Cover or bring inside during extended periods of heavy rain or frost to preserve the iron base.
Natural variations
Each tile is hand-cut and hand-placed. Slight irregularities in the grout lines, tile edges, colour depth, and height are normal. They are what make the piece real.
