This is not a made-to-order table. It is one particular table, Ø40 cm, standing in the Brussels atelier right now, finished and unmarked, and every photograph on this page is of that table and no other. Order it today and it leaves tomorrow, at your door in about a week instead of six. Nejma means star in Darija, and this one wears the pattern in a softer palette than the Nejma in our main listing: navy blue and saffron stars scattered through turquoise, sage green and dusty rose on cream, with a deep blue ring running the edge.

Ready to ship, at the normal price
There is no catch and no discount here: this table costs exactly what the made-to-order Ø40 costs, €185. The difference is that it already exists. It has no chip, no crack and no repair, the cement bed is sound and the top is flat. You are simply buying the six weeks back. Because it is a single finished piece, the colours you see are the colours you get, which is the one thing a made-to-order table can never promise.

One ready now, more made to order
This is the only one finished and in stock, so when it sells the page comes down. The palette itself is not a one-off: the artisan cuts it to order like any other, in any diameter from Ø20 to Ø90 cm, with your choice of height and base finish, delivered in 3 to 6 weeks. Ask for it on the custom tables page, or take the deeper cobalt and burgundy version here: Nejma, made to order →
The photographs are this table
On the rest of the collection we warn that colours shift between firings, because your table has not been made yet. Here the opposite applies. What you see is what ships: this exact top, these exact tones, this exact base. The palette is softer than the Nejma on our main product page, so compare the two before you choose. Either can be made to order in any size.
The base and the weather
The base is wrought iron, painted matte black. It is made for indoors, terraces, and covered outdoor spaces. Painted iron does not rust on its own, but where the paint chips and water sits, rust will start. Wiping it dry after rain keeps it as it is for years. During heavy rain spells and through the snow season, use a waterproof cover or bring the table indoors.
Why this table
It ships now. Everything else in the collection is cut after you order and takes 3 to 6 weeks. This one leaves Brussels the next working day, at no extra cost
A softer palette than our usual Nejma. Turquoise, sage and dusty rose read gently against pale walls and light wood, where the cobalt and burgundy version wants a bolder room
The base carries a scrollwork motif and still folds flat. The tile top sits on it without fixings, held by its own weight. Easy to move inside, take outside, or store
The eight-pointed star is one of the oldest Zellij compositions. The same geometry has decorated Moroccan palaces, hammams, and riads for centuries. The same hand tools. The same technique
At Ø40 cm / 15.7 in and 55 cm tall it sits beside an armchair, holds a lamp and a book, or works as a small bistro table for two on a balcony
The craft
Zellij (also written zellige) is a Moroccan tilework tradition with roots going back to the 10th century. Each tile is shaped by hand using a steel hammer and chisel, one strike at a time. Then placed alongside its neighbours and set into cement, the traditional bed for Zellij. Cement takes full sun without softening or warping, and it holds the surface flat for decades, indoors and out. There are no machines involved at any step. The craft is practiced in a handful of cities in Morocco. The artisan who makes these tables works in Salé, on the Atlantic coast, where the tradition has been passed from generation to generation.
Care
Cleaning
Wipe with a damp cloth. Mild soap is fine. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can dull the enamel over time. The grout lines can be cleaned with a soft brush.
Outdoor use
The Zellij tiles are frost-resistant and the cement top handles the seasons well, even in full summer sun. The painted base is the part that needs attention. Wipe it dry after rain, and during heavy rain spells and through the snow season use a waterproof cover or bring the table indoors: water that sits and freezes stresses the grout lines, and standing water is what starts rust at a chip. A touch of matte black paint over a chip seals it again.
Natural variations
Each tile is hand-cut and hand-placed. Slight irregularities in the grout lines, tile edges, colour depth, and height are normal. They are what make the piece real. On this table you can see them in the photographs and judge for yourself.
Shipping
In stock in Brussels · leaves the next working day
This table is already made, already in Belgium, and packed the day after your order. Delivery then takes 1 to 2 weeks with UPS, GLS or a private courier, whichever serves your address best. Please include your phone number at checkout so the courier can arrange delivery with you.
Check the box before you accept it
Your table travels padded, wrapped and boxed, and a courier still has to carry it to your door. Take a minute at the door: look at the box for dents, holes, crushed corners or a torn side, and open it in front of the driver if you can. If anything looks wrong, write it on the delivery slip before you sign, or refuse the parcel. If a neighbour or a parcel point receives it for you, please check it as soon as you collect it.
Arrives damaged? Tell us within 48 hours
The table is wrapped for transport exactly like every other piece we send. If it reaches you damaged, send us photos of the box and of the piece within 48 hours of delivery and we will sort it out with you. Being a single finished piece, it cannot be swapped for an identical one, so we will make it right another way.
